PR Aqua OxyTower™

The PR Aqua OxyTower™ series of gas treatment systems for culture water are designed to deliver maximum value, performance, and security to aquaculture operators. Combining carbon dioxide removal and oxygenation processes in one rugged, compact unit, the unitized design is cost effective and durable for a long service life.  The tower’s “Plug and Play” design makes it easy to install, requiring only simple plumbing and electrical connections on site.  All controls are integrated, making the unit ready to run.

Designed for optimal gas transfer performance, PR Aqua OxyTowers™ deliver optimal energy efficiency through precise pump sizing and low head oxygenation.  The OxyTower™ also provides additional levels of security to culture systems with its dual blowers providing instant backup, and an optional integrated alarm system.

The PR Aqua OxyTower™ is the ideal culture water gas treatment solution for a full system and dedicated tank requirements.

How It Works

Water enters the vessel from the top across the orifice plates and cascades down through the column.  Blowers, sized specifically for the desired flow and CO2 removal forces fresh air across the water droplets which results in carbon dioxide being driven off and oxygen being absorbed until the dissolved gases are close to equilibrium with the air (saturation).  The treated water then flows from the CO2 Stripper down into a stilling chamber, and is delivered to the top of the LHO™ chamber.

LHOs™ efficiently supersaturate water with oxygen without experiencing the high head losses that are characteristic of many other oxygenation devices.  The LHO™ consists of an orifice plate inlet and a series of contact chambers that empty into the header tank.  The water from the CO2 Stripper, which has a dissolved oxygen concentration at saturation, flows across the orifice plate and cascades into the chambers.  Oxygenated water leaves through the bottom of the unit, which must be submerged in the header tank to prevent the escape of oxygen rich gas from the vessel.

Oxygen (and optionally ozone) gas enters at one side of the unit and passes through the chambers in series. As the gas moves from chamber to chamber, the oxygen is absorbed into the water and nitrogen is off-gassed through a burp tube while Total Gas Pressure (TGP) remains relatively constant.
