The main methods of solids removal include gravitational settling, flotation, and filtration. Filtration can also be separated into broad categories which include media filtration and screening.

Solids filtration is crucial to any aquaculture or water treatment facility. Microstraining or screening is a cost-effective method of removing particulate matter from a liquid and is ideal for treating fish hatchery water. The PR Aqua Rotofilter™ is a rotary drum microscreen filter that is very durable, reliable and very inexpensive to operate.

Swirl Separators |
 |
The more quickly solids are removed from your system, the less time they have to break down and release nutrients and toxins into your culture water. Attaching a swirl separator to your culture tank bottom drain, or to a series of them, provides a good first step in solids removal and reduces the solids-loading to downstream treatment equipment.

The more quickly solids are removed from your system, the less time they have to break down and release nutrients and toxins into your culture water. Attaching a radial flow settler to your culture tank bottom drain, or to a series of them, provides a good first step in solids removal and reduces the solids-loading to downstream treatment equipment.
