Solids Removal
Solids removal is a critical treatment component of influent, effluent, and recirculation treatment systems for aquaculture. The main methods of solids removal include gravitational settling, flotation, and filtration. Filtration can also be separated into broad categories which include media filtration and screening.

Drum Filters |
 |
Solids filtration is crucial to any aquaculture or water treatment facility. Micro-straining or screening is a cost-effective method of removing particulate matter from a liquid and is ideal for treating fish hatchery water. The PR Aqua Rotofilter™ is a rotary drum micro-screen filter that is very durable, reliable and very inexpensive to operate.

Swirl Separators |
 |
The more quickly solids are removed from your system, the less time they have to break down and release nutrients and toxins into your culture water. Attaching a swirl separator to your culture tank bottom drain, or to a series of them, provides a good first step in solids removal and reduces the solids-loading to downstream treatment equipment.

Belt Filters (In Development) |
 |
Solid waste handling can be a major cost consideration for an aquaculture facility due to the high volumes of waste produced. The PR Aqua Belt Filter is a gravity sludge thickener that may be used to dramatically reduce the volume of sludge produced. The thickened sludge may then be stored, handled or disposed of economically. The PR Aqua belt filter may be used to capture the solids from a PR Aqua Microscreen Rotofilter™ or from a traditional raceway wet-vacuum system, eliminating the need for settling ponds.

Pressurized Media Filter |
 |
The key to high water clarity and quality is the rapid removal of solids from the system. Filtration of solids from culture system water before biofiltration is critical to prevent excessive bacteria growth and biofilter fouling.
